History of the West Michigan Wolverine Speed Team
Goal of the Wolverine Speed Team
The West Michigan Wolverine Speed Team is a competitive inline speed skating race team. We are in the beginning of our 5th racing season. We are still looking for anyone who is interested in getting into shape and having fun. The focus of our coaching team is to help all levels of skaters improve on a personal level. Whether you are 4 years old or 80 years old, and whether you are just learning how to skate or competing on a National level, our program will help you improve on your skills. We hold indoor practices at the Byron Center and Kentwood Skating Rinks. We teach basic technique, fitness, off-skate exercises, stretches and race strategy. Our team of coaches are qualified and certified inline speed skating coaches. We have experience in competing and coaching at all levels. We will do our best to help every single skater achieve all of their dreams.
The team is based on the foundation and principles that were taught to us by our coaches, retired and current, Robb Dunn and Jay Ingram of the Wolverines speed team in
A quote from The Master Yoda, of skating, himself - Mr. Robb Dunn. "This program ain't for everybody. We tend to go at it pretty hard here. Some may think it's a bit too much, but that's what we do. I think the results have been pretty good.....but if you are going to skate here, you are going to work." -Robb Dunn
